Fouj Cafe’s Tamim AlMajd Gigantic Cake

“Spreading love, one bite at a time”

That is the motto of Fouj Cafe, the local Qatari brand whose culinary team recently prepared the biggest cake in Doha. The event took place at their main branch on Grand Hamad Street, and was arranged as a show of solidarity to Qatar and HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The pastry team at the Qatari brand used pre-baked sheets of sponge cake, which they put together to create a gigantic cake measuring 5 meters by 5 meters. The cake was then covered in icing, layered with strawberry jam, and then the popular Tamim AlMajd Mural was iced onto of the cake.

It took 15 people to make the cake, which weighed 500kgs, and took over 140kgs of flour, 120 kgs of sugar, 140kgs of butter and more than 2100 eggs! This feat of cake-engineering showcased the best of the skills of the team at Fouj Cafe, who have previously created a 3D Doha landmark cake for Qatar International Food Festival in 2015.

Invited guests, and members of the public, were invited to join in by signing their messages of support on the cake with coloured icing. The remainder of the cake was distributed to the guests to take away.
