Qatar Eating

Where To Eat This Weekend

For this week’s ‘Where To Eat This Weekend’ Feature, we are going all out as we focus on Breakfast! Now, we recognise that breakfast is one meal where we all have our own preferences…and let’s not get into the whole scrambled versus fried eggs debate!

From light and healthy options to carb-heavy plates – whatever your ‘jam’ is we have it covered!

Where To Eat This Weekend Doha Breakfast

IHOP, Gulf Mall

If you are happy to brave the crowds then IHOP is open from 8.00am serving hugely calorific all-day American Breakfast. You can order less stacks for the pancakes – so that’s something to bear in mind. Stay away from these as they are very addictive!

Call +974 4452 9637 for more information.

Chef’s Garden Doha, Marwan Club

Chef’s Garden Location – Map

Breakfast is served from 7.00am-11.00am (Fri) and 7.00am until 11.30am (Sat) at this amazing family-friendly restaurant. A little tricky to find but the extra effort is worth it – there is a lovely green outside area, a kids room (with attendant), and lovely staff.

The place has a healthy ethos to it which is reflected in the food (and the prices)…but just imagine devouring a healthy French Toast (with whole wheat bread and flaxseeds).

Call +974 4409 5040 for more information.

La Varenne, Tornado Tower

This French brasserie has fantastic views over the Corniche and Arabian Gulf, and serves many healthy options including homemade granola, and the House Breakfast (which comes with veal sausage, beef bacon and eggs).

You can also enjoy Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine or the usual suspects (eggs fried, scrambled or poached). For the sweet-toothed amongst us they also serve Waffles, Crepes and French Toast!

La Varenne Breakfast Timings: Sun-Thurs 8.00am until 10.30am; Fri – 8.00am until 11.30am; Sat 8.00am – 3.00pm. For bookings and information call +974 4499 0680.

Al Jazeera Cafe Media, Katara

Another wonderful place to get your healthy breakfast hit (however prices are high). They have a healthy breakfast range as well as sweet treats, including organic eggs cooked to your preference; Poached Egg Paleo Style; a 3 Egg White Omelete; Sourdough Toast; Organic Granola; Gluten-Free Bircher Muesli; and freshly baked pastries to enjoy with your favourite hot beverage.

Having previously attended their Menu Tasting we were already impressed…but now there is big news ahead of their official opening as they begin to introduce more technological aspects to the cafe, including a fantastic Touch Play interactive screen on the dining tables! Although it is still in Beta stage, it is still great fun and you can enjoy a frustrating(!) game of digital air hockey whilst you wait for your food.

Al Jazeera Cafe Media is open daily from 8.00am until 11.30pm (Fri closes at 11.30am for prayers). Call +974 4034 2220 for more information.

Jones The Grocer, The Pearl-Qatar and The Gate Mall.

Enjoy a variety of Egg Breakfasts from Eggs Benedict to Scrambled Eggs or an Omelette. Their French Toast is tasy if a little expensive, whilst they also offer lighter options of seasonal poached fruits and granola.

Breakfast at Jones is a crazy busy affair and service is usually stretched – with the new Pearl opening it may lessen some of the crowds at the original branch.

Call +974 4407 7175 (Gate Mall – open from 8.00am until 11.00pm) or +974 4029 6928 (Pearl-Qatar – open from 9.00am until midnight) for more information.

Shakespeare & Co, The Pearl-Qatar and Dar Al Salam Mall

Serving a variety of Breakfast options including American, English and Lebanaese – there is also a Healthy Breakfast with an egg white omelette. They have an excellent range of Egg dishes, and also serve Crepes (savoury and sweet), French Toast, Pancakes and a large beverage menu.

Dar Al Salam Mall (+974 6676 8812) is open from 8.00am until midnight; The Pearl-Qatar (+974 6629 3821) branch is open from 8.00am until 11.30pm.

Anima Lounge, The Pearl-Qatar

With a wide range of Healthy options including Yoghurt Parfait, Gluten Free Pancakes, and Probiotic Yoghurt Drinks. You can also enjoy a selection of Levantine Delicacies and a variety of Egg dishes including a reasonably priced Anima Breakfast with a beverage.

Anima Lounge is open from 8.30am until midnight; you can also check out their Gallery of art. For more information and delivery call +974 4002 7554.

French Olive, C-Ring Road

A popular dining restaurant serving French and Italian food, with it’s own bakery baking a variety of yummy fresh bread and pastries. Breakfast is served from 7.00am until 4.00pm which will please those of us who prefer to lie-in on weekends. A little on the pricey side, but has an excellent dining room and good service. (Our thanks to a regular reader for the suggestion to add it to this Feature :)]
