Celebrate Cinco De Mayo in Doha

Cinco De Mayo celebrates an event that occurred over 150 years ago in the small town of Puebla. On May 5th 1862 the Mexican army won a surprising victory over superior French forces – days later President Juárez declared May 5th to be a national holiday known as the ‘Battle of Cinco De Mayo’.

Primarily celebrated in the town of Puebla, celebrations take place in the form of historical re-enactments, parades and food stalls. The festival has become an important event around the world as a way for Latinos to celebrate their historical heritage and take pride in their cultural identity.
