Turkish Festival & Bazaar Events, MIA Park

Qatar Museums has arranged a fantastic Turkish Festival and Bazaar at MIA Park from 28th to 31st October. Scheduled to begin at 5.00pm today, it will run until 10.00pm on Saturday evening. Part of the Qatar-Turkey Year of Culture celebrations which also saw Turkish food highlighted at the annual Qatar International Food Festival.

In a few more weeks there will also be a Made in Turkey Fair scheduled from 5th – 8th December 2015. With Qatar Museums and Instanbul Chamber of Commerce. It is expected to be held at the New Doha Convention Center to showcase the best of Turkish products.

This family friendly Festival is designed to present the rich and vibrant culture of Turkey to Qatar residents. A weekend of events have been scheduled at MIA Park and it is open to the general public with free admission (however attractions and food will incur a charge).

Events include displays by some of Turkey’s leading musicians and dancers; an outdoor bazaar; Turkish tea house and a children’s area. Most importantly there will also be food stalls including desserts!

What To Expect – including Food and Prices.

Arranged by Qatar Museums and Qatar-Turkey Year of Culture 2015 – showcasing Turkish culture including a photographic installation with work by Saleh Al Marri and Sara Al Obaidly.

With Turkish performers; workshops; calligraphy; handicraft goods and bazaar; DFI Cinema Under the Stars; authentic Turkish food, desserts and drinks including Dondurma, and an ambient Turkish Teahouse with strong Turkish coffee and flavourful Dolma!

 

Expect it to be busy this weekend – MIA Carpark will not be available for parking so use alternative carparks e.g. Souq Waqif or use the free shuttle service from the old departures terminal in old airport.

Please note that MIA car park will be closed from 28 to 31 October.
A Free shuttle bus service will be available from old Doha airport Departures terminal.

Turkish Festival & Bazaar – Festival Schedule

Highlights of the festival will include traditional Turkish music and folk dance, a Mehteran Ottoman Military Band,  a spectacular outdoor photography exhibition, a Turkish tea house, a ‘cinema under the stars’ provided by Doha Film Institute, shadow puppet theatre workshops, children’s play-area, family arts and craft workshops, and delicious food and beverages supplied by authentic Turkish restaurants.
