Celebrating Eid in Doha 2016 Events

Eid Al-Fitr 2016 Festival will be celebrated for five days across 17 venues in Qatar – as organised by Qatar Tourism Authority and selected venues across Doha. This year’s tagline “Capture Joy” is aimed at highlighting the cultural heritage of the country.

Eid Al-Fitr is expected to begin on Wednesday 6th July 2016. However, be aware that this cannot be confirmed until the sighting of the new moon – the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) will announce the date soon.

A musical show under the theme “A Child’s Dream” will be staged at Katara – the Cultural Village’s esplanade as part of its four-day Eid programme, which are to conclude daily with a spectacular fireworks display.

City Center Doha, Dar Al Salam, Ezdan, Hyatt Plaza, Al Khor and Lagoona malls will host a variety of family entertainment shows for families and children from 5pm to 10pm – Entrance is free!

A group of performers, including Drummers Parade, Fritters, Hungry Chefs, Walkabout Birds, Koka Stilt Walkers and Live Statue, will be moving around inside these malls to entertain visitors, especially children.

Besides parades, visitors will also get a chance to see Doctor Bubble, Equilibrium on the Reels, Comedy Show, Tanoura Performance, Ardha Traditional Dance, Oriental Dabke and Kids Magician in all the participating malls.

EID AL-FITR AT SOUQ AL MEDINA, THE PEARL-QATAR

On July Wednesday 6th, Thursday 7th and Friday 8th 2016 from 4.00pm until 9.00pm

The Pearl-Qatar invites you to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr with your family and friends at Souq Al Medina, Medina Centrale, The Pearl-Qatar. Over three days of Eid from 4pm till 9pm, the Pearl-Qatar will host a rich entertainment programme in Medina Centrale’s indoor arena of Souq Al Medina featuring a range of family and children recreational activities that will appeal to all ages and interests.

EID AL-FITR AT BAZAR SOUQ MAQTOORA, THE PEARL-QATAR

Celebrate with us in Maqtoora Market as part of Eid Al Fitr Celebrations at Souq Al Medina, Medina Centrale, The Pearl-Qatar, from the 6th till the 8th of July, 2016 and from 4:00 pm till 9:00 pm

‘Al Maqtoora’ Market Bazaar, which will also be located in Souq Al Medina, side by side with the main event, is one of several ways UDC and the Pearl-Qatar are partnering with local entrepreneurs by giving them a platform to promote their businesses. Organised by Bedaya Center, which supports Qatari start-ups, ‘Al Maqtoora’ is set to exhibit food, fashion items, perfumes, jewellery, accessories, drawings and creative designs.

EID AL-FITR AT KATARA CULTURAL VILLAGE

The Cultural Village Foundation Katara presents a program entitled “A Kid’s Dream” on Katara esplanade with three shows a day in Arabic and English. Eid gifts will be distributed to children after the end of the first and second shows. Fireworks shows will start after the conclusion of the third show daily.

The shows are presented by a group of performing troupes in acrobatics, circus, jugglers, dancers and other performers.

From 6th to 9th July 2016 – The first show (in Arabic) starts at 7:00 pm. The second show (in English) starts at 8:30 pm. The third show (in Arabic) starts at 9:30 pm.

The Fireworks Show is scheduled for 10:15 pm.

EID AL-FITR AT ASPIRE ZONE

A number of activities such as rowing, wireless car racing, and pony riding will be held at Aspire Zone from 3pm to 6pm from the first day of Eid. Fees range from QR5 to QR25.

 

EID AL-FITR WITH MOI

The Ministry of Interior is organising several musical and cultural shows for various expatriate communities during the Eid holidays at different locations.

The Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with Community Policing Department will be organizing ‘Communities Eid Al Fitr 2016 Celebrations’ on first and second days of Eid Al Fitr on a stage specially arranged near Asian Town cricket stadium in Doha Industrial Area for Indian, Sri Lankan, Nepalese and Korean communities and on first day of Eid at Al Wakra Sports Club for Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities.

In Al Khor Industrial Area, targeting the employees of companies the their families as well as the workers along with general public, the Barwa Group in coordination with Ministry of Interior will be organizing two days Eid Al Fitr celebrations from 5.30 pm at Barwa Workers Sports Complex.

Join Gulf Mall for Eid celebrations starting from the first day of Eid and for a period of 5 days. From 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm.

Events include The Dinosaurs, The Clown, Bubble Show, Face Painting and Balloon Twisting.

Sightseeing at Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve

Sightseeing at the Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve at Al Sheehaniya is also set to welcome visitors from day two to five of Eid al-Fitr from 4pm to 7pm for free.

During Eid Al-Fitr, Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve will organize a bath soap sculpture art exhibition from the sculptor “Biju C G”. It is an opportunity for the visitors searching for unique and rare form of sculpture art. From the 2nd day of Eid for 5 days. From 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

Tar Al Wazeer (Arabic)

The QTA is sponsoring a theatrical performance titled Tar Al Wazir, an Arabic comedy that tackles some of the issues in Qatar and the other GCC nations. Popular stars Abdulaziz Jassim, AbdulNasser Darwish and Huda Sultan are the main performers.

The shows are at 6.30pm and 9.30pm at the Qatar National Theatre, with ticket prices ranging from QR50 to QR500.

Tours at Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum

A free tour will  be organised to the Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani Museum at Sheehaniya area, which will be open from 8.30am to 6pm. Visitors under 8-years old can enter free, but those in the nine to 18 age group will pay QR10 and 18 above, QR15.

For extreme sports lovers, the Sealine Beach Resort will host paragliding activities for five days from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

International Bazaar within “Eidiya” Festival

The Bazaar features more than 200 shops from 15 countries, showcasing products and goods of the world’s most famous brands and the highest quality.

You can also look forward to the upcoming Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) as the QTA are working towards launching the month-long Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) in its third edition, just three weeks after Eid Al Fitr ends.

Held under the theme “Color Your Summer,” QSF offers a variety of colorful experiences including concerts, comedy events, and sports events involving celebrities from across the region.

Visitors and residents can look forward to the return of QSF’s Entertainment City, which will feature a range of new and exciting gaming and entertainment options for children and adults alike, and will be held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center for the first time.

Hotels will be offering special packages such as ‘pay for two nights and stay for three’ in hotels, and ‘pay for five nights and stay for six’ in hotel apartments. Select establishments will provide additional incentives covering a variety of options including free breakfasts, late check-outs, free meals for children when accompanied by their parents (a maximum of three children per family) and free transfers to and from Hamad International Airport. These offers are also available to residents booking during the same period.
