QIFF 2017 – Top 5 Free Events

For the 2017 edition of Qatar International Food Festival the foodie fabulousness and family fun has been extended to an 11-day offering. It’s being held at Hotel Park, in front of the Sheraton Grand Hotel.

Food will be sold with individual dishes at food stands ranging in price from QAR 5 to QAR 35 so you can choose food items that suit your budget.

However entrance to the event is FREE!

There will also be free activities planned for the event so it is possible to enjoy a fun-filled family day out without spending heavily.

QIFF 2017 – Free Events

Here are 5 things that you can do or see for free at Qatar International Food Festival!

1. QIFF Cooking Theatre:

There will be a live cooking theatre with shaded seating for guests. Those visiting the festival will be able to meet their favourite international chefs and watch them cook gourmet dishes and regional cuisine.

Watch food demonstrations from Chefs such as Graham Elliot, Andy Bates, Sanjeev Kapoor, and Manal Al Alem! There will also be live cooking demonstrations by Chefs from Doha’s luxury hotels. The dishes cooked will be available for sample tasting too.

TIP: Don’t forget to come prepared with any questions you may have for the Chefs!

2 – Daily Fireworks:


QIFF 2017 has made fireworks a daily event at 8:00pm. If you head to the Hills at Hotel Park you will get the best views of the shows!

Price: FREE!

TIP: Bring a mat, chairs and picnic and you can also enjoy the balmy evenings on the Hills of the Hotel Park as the sun sets.

3 – Entertainment:

There is a variety of entertainment this year at the Enjoy, Celebrate, and Care stages. With special German performances to celebrate Qatar-Germany Year of Culture, live painting, and musicians. There are also healthy activities that you can join in with including family Zumba and Pilates.

– Film Screenings:

In collaboration with DFI there will be special screenings of Dari Qatar. There will also be daily screenings of Siraj, the educational 3D show from Qatar Foundation. Screenings are shown at the main stage from 7.00pm.

5 – Learn about Food :

Visitors to the festival can take the opportunity to learn more about food, and the concept of the food journey ‘farm to fork’ – there are also sheep at the festival.

There will be a QIFF library on the grounds with daily workshops and coaching on healthy eating. Upcoming workshops will be held by 2B Nourished and are expected to include Culinary Beauty (Thursday at 5pm), Power Up Your Health (Friday at 8pm) and Eat the Rainbow (Saturday at 4pm).

Qatar Cancer Society will raise awareness about the importance of healthy food choices in the prevention and treatment of cancer. Their booth can be found in the Taste zone where they will be holding competitions with prizes for both children and adults.
